Factions

The world of Shinobu is divided into three different fronts. With each of these fronts being divided even more. There are the Ninja Villages, the Syndicate and the Imperials. You may choose which faction is best for your character and there is no pressure into joining another Faction. That being said, once you have joined a Faction, you may not leave the faction unless your character goes through some serious character development that allows them to. There is always a possibility of more factions popping up in the future. Please keep this in mind. Use Ctrl+F to search up any of the topics in this chapter below.

  • The Ninja Villages
  • The Syndicate
  • The Imperials

The Ninja Villages

The Ninja Villages are divided into five different villages: Fuuma, Ookami, Shizuka, Ryuuga and Kaminari. The job of the Ninja Villages is to protect the balance of the world but, their loyalty resides with the Imperials. They often choose to be personal military of the Imperials. That being said, because of their philosophy of keeping their way of life alive, they often go to war with the Syndicate who is said to be behind most demon attacks. Unfortunately, some of the Ninja Villages have stooped very low into being hired by the members of the Syndicate. Money typically is the main focus on the Ninja Villages so they are willing to service anyone who is willing to buy their services. Outside of this, the Ninja Villages generally do not associate themselves with the Syndicate.

This faction is very generic and is honestly the easiest to create and control a character with. There are many quests that require investigation but, there is also a great deal of combat involved with these characters. It is recommended that if you are new to roleplaying, to pick up one of these roles for your character(s).

The Syndicate

The Syndicate is an evil organization. They only care about money and their own impure desires. They often break the laws that are instated by the Imperials in pursuit of their own pleasures. They do not have a real alliance but, as they say "there's honor among thieves". Simply put, they are a bunch of criminals and exists in every part of the world. They are the largest threat to the Imperials and they rival their power greatly. Some members have logical purposes behind being crooks while others have mental disorders that drive them to do violent things. On top of that, there are some members of the Syndicate who have been brainwashed into thinking they are doing the right thing.

The Syndicate in the eyes of some people can be seen as rebels and some people believe they are leading a revolution. While they are not a real alliance, the term Syndicate is used to refer to anyone who is not affiliated with the Ninja Villages or the Imperials. If you find one of their bases, you can typically find illegal substances and actions being performed. They also have access to information that would otherwise be classified or impossible to obtain. Most quests typically involve combat. It is recommended that only advance players created characters in this faction as it is the most difficult.

The Syndicate of the Land of Birds reside in Shippuu Village. The Syndicate of the Land of Dogs reside in Yaken Village. The Syndicate of the Land of Monkeys reside in Meigetsu Village. The Syndicate of the Land of Dragons reside in Ryuuhou Village. The Syndicate of the Land of Tigers reside in Ikazuchi Village.

The Imperials

The royal government. They act as the governing bodies of the world of Shinobu. Currently, they are divided into the Land of Birds, the Land of Dogs, the Land of Monkeys, the Land of Dragons and the Land of Tigers. Each of these nations are governed by one sole leader, which is the Daimyo. The Daimyo in each of these nations are respectively known as the Bird Lord, the Dog Lord, the Monkey Lord, the Dragon Lord and the Tiger Lord.

The Imperials are seen as the elites of society. They are rulers, lawmakers and more importantly law enforcers. The Imperials take the laws very seriously. Thou shall not steal. Thou shall not commit adultery. Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not bear false witness. Thou shall not convert. Thou shall honor they mother and father.

The Imperials of the Land of Birds reside in Tenpuu Village. The Imperials of the Land of Dogs reside in Tanuki Village. The Imperials of the Land of Monkeys reside in Seijaku Village. The Imperials of the Land of Dragons reside in Ryuusei Village. The Imperials of the Land of Tigers reside in Raikou Village.

The purpose of the Imperials is to maintain justice and order. Many of the Imperials see themselves as gods and are the descendants of the royals who use to butcher the peasants in another Era. They are known for establishing laws and rules throughout the world of Shinobu. They have great fortunes and tend to use their money to buy the necessary equipment or supplies they need. While known for relying on the power of the Ninja Villages, they actually have secret techniques of their own that wish not to keep secret. Characters within this faction usually take on a political role. There is more dialogue involved quests but, can also include some combat when necessary.
