Factions Ranks and Power Ranks

The different factions in the world of Shinobu are seen as militarized groups. Factions are divided by their different purposes but, regardless of what Faction a character is in, they all have the same system of commands. Factions Ranks are not a sign of physical prowess but, instead, is just a symbol for how high ranking a character is within that faction. This means, how much political power and influence the character has and how well they are at being a leader. The higher the character's rank, the more they are able to control things and call the shots.

With this in mind, there is a difference between a character's Faction Rank and a character's Power Rank. A character's Faction Rank just simply means how high ranking of an officer they are within their faction. While a character's Power Rank means how strong the character is overall. However, by increasing your Faction Rank, you will have access to information and secrets that weren't in your possession before; you'll be able to learn higher level Jutsu. Factions Ranks

In the world of Shinobu, Qi users are divided into different factions ranks. This ranking system applies to not just the Ninja Villages but, also the Mujoushuu and the Imperials. While the Mujoushuu and Imperials do not generally use these terms to refer to the members within their associations, it should be noted that these ranks are used to generally refer to a character's overall power and ability. That being said, because of the use of Attributes in the game, it is possible for someone to be a Kage in strength but, still a Genin in Rank. More importantly, things such as age also apply in their system of command. Not every organization is the same. This system is generally used as a chain of command. The higher the rank, the more difficult missions, errands or crimes will be. The ranks are Student, Genin, Chunin, Jounin and Kage.

  • Student (E-Rank)
  • Genin (D-Rank)
  • Chunin (C-Rank)
  • Jounin (B-Rank)
  • Kage (A-Rank)

Student - short for "Academy Student". This is a beginner. Someone who has just begun their journey and who has just begun. The highest Power Rank a Student can have is C-Rank.

Genin - A novice. Still a beginner but, one who has proven themself enough to serve their faction. Genin typically stay within the village to defend it against smaller threats. The highest Power Rank a Genin can have is A-Rank.

Chunin - An advanced warrior. One that can lead small groups in their faction. Typically they are sent out of the village but, some remain behind to defend their village in case of a threat. The highest Power Rank a Chunin can have is S-Rank.

Jounin - An elite warrior. One that can lead big groups and take on some of the deadliest of missions. They are typically sent out of the village to eliminate great threats.

Kage - the strongest in a faction. This is the highest level one can achieve. This rank makes one the absolute leader within their Ranks. They are also responsible for keeping their faction alive.

The Genin Graduations

Usually a Student is given an assignment to complete. This assignment can differ depending on the character's Faction. This can be a simple errand, a simple crime or even the mastery of a technique. This assignment is to prove their loyalty and devotion to their faction. Passing the Genin Graduations means that they have proven themselves worthy of taking on Quests. When one becomes a Genin, they will gain 50 Base HP and 25 Base Qi. They will also gain 10 Attribute Points.

Genin Requirement: Learn Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu and Clone Jutsu or Complete 2 Quests or Participate in 1 Village or World Event.

The Chunin Exams

Twice a year, the ninja villages hold something that is known as the Chuunin Exams. It is hosted in one village once every six months. This is one of the two agreements that the ninja villages have decided on since their formation. This is a way of testing their adolescents and a way to keep the strength levels of nations in balance. The power between nations are evenly distributed. This is also a way for a ninja to prove themselves amongst their peers and the higher authority. If your character graduates the Chunin Exam, they will be rewarded 100 Base HP, and 50 Base Qi. They will also be granted 1 NPC to be added to their Player Character. On top of this, they will be granted 30 Attribute Points.

The Imperials and the Mujoushuu also have their own form of Chunin Exams that is similar to the Chunin Exams of the Ninja Villages. In the Mujoushuu, one has to pull a heist that is worthy of people speaking their name. As an Imperial, they need to become a person that one of the higher officials can respect. As an Imperial, this may not always mean that this person needs to be of good character.

Once you have one character that is a Chunin, you will be allowed to create characters at the Genin Rank. This will be a perk of passing the Chunin Exams.

Chunin Requirement: Learn Act of Tree Climbing and Act of Water Surface Walking, Complete 1 Quest and Participate in 1 Chunin Exam or Participate in 1 World Event.

Jounin Adulthood

In-order to become a Jounin, one must have exceptional skill. They must also have a good reputation in their respective faction. In the Ninja Villages, one must invent their own jutsu. One thing is completely custom and unique only to them. Something that cannot be easily copied. When one becomes a Jounin they will gain 150 Base HP and 75 Base Qi. They will also be granted a second NPC for their Player Character. On top of this, they will be granted 50 Attribute Points.

In the Mujoushuu, one is granted Jounin after pulling off a major heist. Or when they have gained an exceptional level of skill.

As an Imperial, one is granted Jounin after pulling off a major errand. This also means they have gained much respect in their country and they have become a person of noteriety. When voting democratically, they will have a higher influence on voting councils.

As a Jounin, you will also be able to bypass the Kage Elections and challenge the Kage for supremacy. This can happen in any faction. While this form of becoming a Kage will not give you the favor of the general public, it can assure your rule as Kage. This may also change the atmosphere of the village you live in. Not everyone will accept you as Kage.

Jounin Requirement: Master Primary Affinity and complete 3 Quests regardless of faction or Participate in 1 World Event.

The Kage Elections

When a ninja becomes Kage. This means that they are the absolute best in their village. In most cases, the Kage is chosen as the ninja who is the best at Destruction Magic (Ninjutsu). Regardless, Kages are actually elected democratically into office. Kages are expected to rule for 20-30 years, or one generation. As a Kage, you will be granted maximum Base HP and maximum Base Qi. They will also gain 1 more additional NPC, giving them a grand total of 3 NPCs. At this point, you will no longer be able to learn any new jutsu but, instead it is insisted that you take on the role of instructor. Your character will also stop gaining Attribute points. Being a Kage-level ninja means that they are able to invent jutsu on the fly.

In the Mujoushuu, there are no Kages but, there can be multiple Kage-level warriors. This is why the Mujoushuu is a threat to every faction because, there is no way to gauge their strength and numbers. No one knows how many rogue shinobi exist or exactly how strong they are but, one becomes a Kage from simply working very hard. At this point, they have acquired a great amount of skill but, also a great amount of money. They have created a great network of criminals and are recognized by their influence over smaller criminals.

As an Imperial, becoming a Kage simply means they have become the leader of their nation. In the Land of Birds, this means they have become the Bird Lord. In the Land of Dogs, this means they have become the Dog Lord. In the Land of Monkeys, this means they have become the Monkey Lord. In the Land of Dragons, this means they have become the Dragon Lord. In the Land of Tigers, this means they have become the Tiger Lord. There can only be one Daimyo in every country but, becoming a Daimyo requires political influence or blood ties. Becoming a Daimyo is very biased and is not about a persons good intentions or physical strength. It takes wit and a tad bit of manipulation.

Once you have one character that is a Kage, you will be allowed to create characters at the Chunin Rank. This will be a perk of winning the Kage Elections or defeating the previous Kage.

Kage Requirement: Learn 1 Forbidden Jutsu and Complete 2 S-Rank Quest

Power Ranks

Qi users can vary between those who are relatively new to using their Qi to those who have studied Qi and mastered the art of controlling it. Some Qi users have a higher level of Qi than others and some Qi users can use elements that aren't possible to others. Every Qi user has their secrets.

The Power Ranking System is oddly simple. It is based on a letter and typically it's not discussed via dialogue. The Power Ranks are ranked E through S, with S-Rank being the absolute highest rank of power you can reach. Each Power Rank has a Faction Rank equivalent however, it is possible to be a C-Rank Kage or an S-Rank Chunin. Your Faction Rank does not determine how strong your character is but, can help the character understand how notable they are in the world of Shinobu. At some point, once a character reaches Chunin, they will have become a character of notable interest throughout their faction. By the time they become a Jounin, they will have achieve world recognition. That being said, this is not the same as climbing ranks of power. A Qi user's power can only be cultivated through hard work and ambition. Without this, they are simply a tool used for political power and control.

Keep this in mind that Power Ranks are not everything. As a general rule, it's possible for a character that is two ranks lower in Power Rank to take on another character. This means, a C-Rank character can take on an A-Rank Character or a B-Rank Character can take on a S-Rank character in one on one combat. Character's will still have their difficulties, such as weaker characters having lower amounts of Qi or less control over their Qi or being physical weaker or less agile. Generally speaking, if your character has a Specialization, your character will do much better in these area's than another character that does not. The Power Ranks are E, D, C, B, A and S.

  • E-Rank
  • D-Rank
  • C-Rank
  • B-Rank
  • A-Rank
  • S-Rank

E-Rank - This is the lowest level of Qi user. This means that they either barely understand Qi or just got the basics of understanding their Qi. They will have basic understandings of martial arts and weaponry and a minimum understanding of illusions and secret jutsu. They shouldn't understand anything outside of this unless they come from a special clan.

D-Rank - At this point a character can pick their specialization, so they will generally speaking be better at the strong points of their specialization than those who do not specialize in those area's. Despite this, they will generally have a low amount of Qi when compared to other but, just enough to make them stronger than most Academy Students.

C-Rank - Characters of this Power Rank are considered to be mid-leveled. They have a general amount of Qi which allows them to learn and use super advanced techniques. The only issue to this, is that the higher level the technique, the more it drains their Qi.

B-Rank - The "elite" as some would call them. Characters of this Power Rank are able to perform advanced techniques with ease or little to some difficulty. They have a much larger amount of Qi to control and wield, which gives them a variety of options. The level of difference in their power makes them god-like amongst common people. Advance level techniques may drain their Qi but, they are able to perform several advance techniques and a few secret techniques with ease.

A-Rank - Too many, this is the highest Power Rank that most can achieve. Characters of this Power Rank are considered to be natural leaders and more importantly have learn all of the common knowledge about Qi as well as mastered some of the secret or hidden secrets about Qi. Performing advanced techniques are second nature and Qi users of this rank always have a forbidden technique and a special secret up their sleeve. Even to those who have mastered control of their Qi, this rank of Power are considered to be legendaries, even outside of their time period.

S-Rank - The highest rank of Power that one can achieve but, at the same time, it's the most broad among all of the ranks of Power. There are some S-Rank users that are simply god-like while others barely meet the requirement. Regardless, Qi users of this Power Rank are considered to be god-like and typically have mastered several forbidden techniques. They are beyond anyone's control and it's said, that Qi users of this level can destroy entire villages in under one night. However, because the scale of power that these characters can vary, some characters can destroy an entire village while others can destroy entire countries. Despite this, this is the highest level of power that a Qi user can acquire. Acquiring this level of power means that the user is seen as a military threat themselves.
